Summary of Background
Some people have called me a graphic communications industry visionary, but really, I am no mensa - I just listen and ask enough questions to better understand the problem, then go about seeing if I can solve it and build a solid business case to support the solution. While this might make me appear to be a technical and marketing expert, I really just ask the hard questions. I am hands on in developing, testing, installing and training in a broad range of work flow applications and technologies. I have a background in sales, marketing, product development, and public relations. If I have one thing going for me, it is a unique combination of creative talent and technical curiosity. I have experience with international teams to accelerate product development, differentiate their product offerings, and establish market leadership during the launch and ongoing product life cycle.

I am an internationally recognized speaker at seminars and conferences relating to marketing and technical topics in the printing and publishing industry as well as document scan and data extraction. My presentations provide entertaining and thought provoking insight on a wide range of topics such as PDF (Portable Document Format), automated publishing work flows, Web2Print, color management systems, XML implementations and PDF Forms.

Michael Jahn’s Specialties:

Session title: XMP in the wild - how vendors are implementing XMP in applicattions and services today

Session description: How a particular vendor used (or injected, extracted) XMP data as it related to an asset, making sure to explain this as if I were an user and was actively using XMP.

Included;

Code Line's Sneak Peek Pro

Matheau makes a nice way to peek into an Adobe application file - even if you do not have the Adobe application - and then parse and render a preview and list what assets are required - or missing.
Matheau Dakoske's email is matheau@code-line.com

ICS Colour's Remote Director

Dan showed me how they inject virtual proofing system data, as well as monitor data, into a PDF that is validated as 'a PDF that is certified as having the stuff it needs to be viewed as a virtual proof' - It seems Dalim and kodak also offer this, and they follow the methods defined by Ghent PDF Workgroup Soft-Proofing Ticket
Dan Caldwell's email is dancolor2@mac.com

Specle

Tom makes a nice little "download that magazine titles ad template and overlay it over your InDesign file so you might adjust it, then save to PDF" - not here in the US, but I am buddies with Tom...

Inter-Society Color Council 2008 Annual Meeting
Session title: What color is that cheese doodle, really? - a day in the life of a color specifier

Session description: Why is it so hard to capture or scan a color and print it so they look the same?
Never mind why Britney wears that Pink wig, why is it so hard to reproduce color like that accurately? How to we capture and preserve the original color and coax our monitors and printers to agree on what that color is (or was?) This session will walk us through the process of capturing a scene, determining what a color "is" and then walking trough the steps to make it 'behave' and reproduce. Dr. Grangers "non-ICC based" color conversion will be presented and discussed, as well as the CIE Standards Comparison tool.

Preparing a Document for Exchange - Printable, but Google-able?
Description: Michael Jahn feels your pain - from the ''window sill'' of a creative dream to the ''landfill'' where they ultimately end up. The only way to generate anything in such a way that everyone else can find it using Google requires us to rethink our workflow and embrace metadata.
